Barcelona Celler Vino Blanco

The grapes for Barcelona Celler Vino Blanco come from a combination of mountain and valley vineyards in southern Catalunya. The garnacha blanca is grown on the rugged hillsides while the chardonnay comes from the verdant Ebro Valley. Both varieties benefit from the warm days and cool nights afforded by constant gentle breezes from the Mediterranean.
Flavor-wise, the garnacha blanca brings a full-bodied tropical character. The chardonnay contributes the tangy floral and citrus notes. Each lot is fermented separately and then blended to maximize balance and complexity. Cool fermentation naturally preserves the fresh flavors.

Manchego & Membrillo Tapas


This is a truly authentic tapas recipe which you will find throughout Spain. It's simple, elegant and easy on the pocket book! Manchego cheese has a smooth, slightly tangy flavor and is available almost everywhere. Membrillo (quince in English) is a fruit with a delicate honey flavor and is sold as a paste. You can usually find it in the international foods section in the grocery store.
Ingredients:
1 fresh baguette (long, narrow French loaf)
Olive oil-good quaility Spanish
Garlic powder
1 lb. Manchego cheese
1 package membrillo (quince) paste
Preparation:
Slice the baguette in to rounds 1/2 inch thick. Brush one side with olive oil and sprinkle lightly with garlic powder. Place the rounds on a cookie sheet and run under the broiler to LIGHTLY toast. Remove from oven and top with 1/4 inch wedges of Manchego and 1/8 inch wedges of membrillo paste (see photo). Serve with well chilled Barcelona Celler Blanco. This recipe makes a large plate of tapas and is a huge crowd-pleaser at parties.
